In doing so, we have partnered with multiple medical malpractice insurance carriers to offer a secure texting platform to their members for free.
Not only is it a violation of HIPAA to text with patients, or with colleagues about patients if any identifying information is included, but many insurance carriers also realize the future of patient/doctor communication is via mobile texting.
The MedXCom secure texting platform allows users to communicate with colleagues, practice managers, office staff and (if permissioned by the provider) patients in a standard SMS text manner, but in a HIPAA-compliant, secure environment. Messages can be sent or retrieved on both our smartphone (iPhone and Android) apps and web portal, and all texts are documented and archived for 23 years.
